Ismail (Miley) Ajam started the label in 1986. As an ardent sports enthusiast, (Provincial Soccer, Hockey, Cricket and Tennis, Professional Football: PE United and Manning Rangers) he saw the opportunity in the market place for something new and different and set about the creation and manufacturing of the brand. Initial orders were one off garments made for individuals and sporting clubs, etc. and larger orders soon followed.

Over the years the demand for the product has increased and orders have been received from throughout South Africa and also Namibia. The growth in the label and the company resulted in Miley being awarded the National Emerging Entrepreneur award in 1989 by the South African Institute of Marketing. He was then subsequently also selected to attend a United States Government sponsored business training program (USALEP) in the U.S.A. in 1992. The label has now matured into a well-accepted brand with customers from all sectors of the population.

Miley is responsible for product design in conjunction with in-house staff. This, allied to a very flexible production system has allowed the label to keep abreast of changes in the market place and the ability to execute orders at relatively short notice periods.

The factory is situated in 91 Pickering Street, Newton Park, Port Elizabeth and has a production related staff complement of 65 persons, covering all facets of production from design, planning, cutting, sewing to packing. The Port Elizabeth environs has historically been the home to a number of factories in the garment industry hence a large pool of well skilled labour. In-house staff does the bulk of the manufacturing with a small percentage outsourced to C.M.T. contractors. Screen-printing and Embroidery are also outsourced.

We operate in a unionized environment and thus our pay rates are per agreed rates or in excess thereof.

The factory covers an area of approximately 900 square meters of which 600square meters are used for production and related functions. The balance is used for Sales & Marketing operations and administration and storage.

The administration, Sales and Marketing staff, consisting of 9 members are all situated at the factory premises in Port Elizabeth. All staff members are from the P.D.I. group of which approximately 85% are female.

Staff training is predominantly done as in-house on the job training by senior staff. Outside consultants are hired where the in-house skills are not available.

The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
